IIFM, Bhopal Hosts Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF), Government of Bhutan Training Programme On Evidence Based Statistics for Economic Development
The training Programme on Evidence Based Statistics for Economic Development Sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF), Government of Bhutan under EU- Bhutan Technical Assistance Complementary Support Project was inaugurated at Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal on 06th January 2020. 16 officers from the Bhutan are attending the Program.
Chief Guest of the occasion, Mr. R. Parsuram, IAS (Retd), Director General at Atal Bihari Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis, Bhopal, addressed the participants. He focused on the development goal of Bhutan, which is gross happiness index, rather than Economic Development. He stated that Politicians goals in Policy Agenda need to be made evidence based to communicate to them that Policy which they propose also depends on Statistical evidences and results for mass acceptance.
Subsequently speaking on the occasion, Director, IIFM, Dr. Pankaj Srivastava, IFS talked about the sustainability management and sustainability development learning from Bhutan Government, which is now a global phenomenon.
The Programme will continue for 10 days till 15th January 2020 and will have sessions on Evidence-based statistics, Big Data Mining, Data Analytics, Value Chain, Project Planning, Project Management and Policy Monitoring and Evaluation. The Programme will also include field visit to Sanchi world Heritage site for open learning sessions. Dr. Amitabh Pandey, Dr. Sandeep Tambe, IFS, Dr. CVRS Vijay Kumar, Dr. Jayshree Dubey, Dr. Jigyasa Bisaria faculty at Indian Institute of Forest Management, are Program directors for this Programme.
