The world is facing many environmental challenges. Climate change, deforestation, land degradation, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity are some of them. Many of these are connected to the ways natural resources, especially forests, agricultural land and water, are managed. Forests and trees play an important role in mitigating and addressing these environmental problems. There is a high demand for professionals with expertise in this area.

Sustainable development, and the management of natural resources is a rapidly growing area where young professionals can build high profile careers, to find innovative nature based solutions to contemporary problems. The Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), a leading National Autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India has fostered excellence in the fields of Forest, Environment, Sustainable Development, Natural Resource Management and related fields since 1982. The Post Graduate Programme in Forestry Management was launched in 1988 & the curriculum has a unique blend of interactive classroom sessions, field & project work, internships and case study based learning. Our team of experienced faculty with subject expertise and applied knowledge of multi-disciplinary research helps in holistic understanding of complex inter-relationship of development and environment and ways to work for ecological sustainability.
