Dr. Chandra Prakash Kala

Dr. Chandra Prakash Kala is ranked among top 2% of the world academicians/ scientists by the Stanford University. He earned Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry from the Forest Research Institute University, and Post Graduation in Botany from the HNB Garhwal University. He has over two and half decades of research and teaching experience on plant ecology, natural resource management and ethnobotany, including medicinal and aromatic plants. His decade long studies on the Himalayas contributed significantly to the academic community, and also in tagging the Valley of Flowers National Park as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Dr. Kala has served in various capacities with the Wildlife Institute of India, G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development, and National Medicinal Plants Board. He has published 10 books and over 200 research papers and articles in various peer reviewed national and international journals. The Impact Factor of his published work as per Science Citation Index of Thomson Reuters is 112.
Dr. Kala is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences India. He is awarded the prestigious Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education Award for Excellence in the Forest Conservation (Biodiversity and Ecology). He has been a visiting scholar at Pennsylvania State University in the United States, and the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. He has served as an Editorial Board member for a dozen of peer reviewed journals.
