Dr. Omprakash Madguni has been serving at IIFM since 1994 as Lecturer and Assistant professor from 2008 onwards in the faculty area of Ecosystem and Environmental Management. Prior to join IIFM, Bhopal he was with Forest Survey of India for 4.5 years as Sr. Technical Assistant and had extensively worked in the area of application of Remote Sensing and GIS in forestry and watershed management. M.Sc., from Karnataka University, Dharwad and Ph.D. from Barkatullah University, Bhopal in Applied Geology, Dr. Omprakash has been associated with the forestry and allied sector for more than 32 years. In IIFM, he has been teaching various courses that contribute to the sustainable development, which includes, Integrated Water Resources Management, Sustainable Forest Management, Renewable Energy Management, Disaster Risk Management, Sustainability & Sustainable Development Goals. During his academic career he has mobilized various nationally and internationally funded research projects in the area of Criteria & Indicators for Sustainable Forest management, Integrated Watershed Management, forest degradation, Waste Management, Hydrology, etc. He has been instrumental in development of national set of Criteria and Indicators (C&I) for sustainable management of natural forests in India, which has been duly incorporated in the National Working Plan Code, 2014. He published his research findings as research articles, book chapters, book in reputed journals and book publishers. He has visited various countries, including Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar and Singapore to share his research findings. Till date he has successfully supervised more than 5 doctoral and more than 12 M.Phil. thesis.
